In “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Ken Kesey, he presents a character named R.P. McMurphy. Kesey parodies the biblical figure Christ with McMurphy with subtle references throughout the novel. However, even though he is compared to a Christ symbol that doesn’t mean he behaves like one. McMurphy is seen as a Christ symbol, not only because of references, but because of his gradual self-growth throughout the novel that allows him to embrace his “divinity” and help others. McMurphy is a mockery of the figure Christ because Christ was a humble, charitable, giving, honorable man who was pure and Mcmurphy is the opposite of that.
As my freshman year came to an end, I looked back on my first year of high school and realized that I didn’t want my remaining
I have been constantly dealing with struggles, from which I have learned. One of my biggest struggles, from which I have learned and am still learning, was the transition from middle school to high school. While this is a common struggle for almost all students, that doesn’t mean we should overlook it or write it off in our own lives. When I first began high school, I was filled with adrenaline, which fueled me and kept me on my toes enough to keep up with the workload. This "honeymoon phase" came to an end, and I started falling behind.
A time when I was faced with a significant challenge, but learned to overcome it was sophomore and junior year in history. History has always seem to be the class I tend to struggle in, no matter who I sit next to or how many notes I take. Sophomore as time when on to second semester I realized I wasn’t doing well; I was procrastinating with homework, not doing well on test, and stated to pay less attention in class. I got a D for the first semester and when I saw that on my report card I knew I had to change something. I realized history need to become a much higher priority.
Through the experience of working as youth leader for freshman connection I have grown as a better leader. To help incoming freshman was incredible experience for me. I joined freshman connection to serve school and defiantly to get knowledge and team building skills out of it, so that it can help me make my college experience better. I think I have achieved all the goals that I wanted to through working as youth leader. Additionally, not only that but also to work on community service project on bullying has really allowed me to serve as teacher helper.
I would like Posse Fundation to know that doring my junior year, I was enrolled in early college at the University of the District of Columbia, taking English Composition 1, and I will also start the US History to 1865 class this summer, June 27 in the same university. I have been in the honor roll since my freshman year in high school until now, my Junior year. Additionally, through out my high school experience, I have recieved several awards, including the Academic Excelence Award, Pride, Poise, Perseverance Award, Articulate Communicator in Two Lenguages Award, and the Intellectually Curious Scholar Award. I have worked as a babysitter every afternoon for almost a year. Doring my Senior year, I will be joining the girls softball team as
The freshman myth has really opened my eyes, after all I myself am a freshman in college straight out of high school. The fact that 18 million students in a single year apply for college and 34% of those students drop or flunk out of college is a little scary. I have big goals for life I want to be either a Jag for the Army or a Prosecuting Attorney. The freshman myth is what I was thinking my senior year; piece of cake, easy, not going to have to work as hard as I have the last few years of my life. I learned quick that senior year is a lot more stressful then it sounds.
By the time junior year began, I had already been settled in my environment and I knew how to succeed in the classroom. This year was definitely the toughest for me, especially due to the fact that I was in advanced classes that I had to balance with my life outside of school. However, I sill maintained to achieve a very high GPA and receive awards for my accomplishments. In addition, this year solidified what I wanted to do the rest of my life; the experiences I had in the classroom demonstrated the love and passion I had to science and medicine. I know now that I want to pursue a career in the medical industry, and I hope to one day become a pediatrician or a pediatric surgeon.
Sophomore year was off to a rough start. To begin with, my old friend group split up leaving me in the dust. Their loss. I was alone most of the time depending on my team friends, the girls that do gymnastics with me, to hang out with. I have plenty of school friends, but outside of school, we don’t even talk.
During the months of september through the beginning of november of sophomore year it was going great i had all my friends, and we’re all happy. Then they started to call me mean names like slut, whore, and started saying i was sleeping around and things like that. The only way i knew to defend myself was go tell the dean the next time they said stuff like this. So i got to school i was talking to my friends Brandon and Jimmy. Then brendon decided to tell me how was sleeping around last night and i told him to stop because first off they knew i told them stop before and they hadn’t.
High School High school has been pretty good to me this far. I really have not had a problem with any of my teachers, and I’ve made a lot of new friends. A big reason on why I have liked it so much is because freshman year went by like a flash. All I can really remember is moments of me showing how immature I was at that point. A big memory was me not being able to shut my mouth in my english class.
I can’t wait to start middle school. Starting middle school can be overwhelming where three schools merge together but meeting new people is the only thing on my mind. Middle school is where you expand your group of friends adding more people or stay the same. So of course I stared expanding, gaining more friends
During my high school days, I was a really shy person. I didn’t like to talk in class because I was nervous what my classmate will say about my response, I didn’t join anything activities or sports teams and I didn 't have a lot of friends. But I knew it was something I need to overcome sooner or later. During my Sophomore year, I wanted to change who I am, so I decided to join track since I like to run. But if I didn 't join track I wouldn 't be who I am today.
1. What expectations did the coaches set for you in your freshman year? What were your personal goals? Going into my Freshmen year, the coaches had high expectations for me. I chose a school that had 4 out of the 5 offensive line spots open for competition.
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
