I present the Jury with the prosecution of Mrs. Maloney under the charge of killing her husband Mr. Maloney. Mrs. Maloney described her marriage with Mr. Maloney to have been relish and loving. As described by Mrs. maloney how “Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come”(Dahl 3). However under certain circumstances the couple was faced upon an argument, and whiten the heat of the moment mrs. maloney hit Mr. maloney in the back of the head with a heavy object killing him in the process. “As the wife of a detective, she knew quite well what the penalty would be” (Dahl 47). Maloney very strategically handled the situation and then got rid of the murder weapon to make sure there was no evidence left behind. The detectives investigating the crime scene have stated that the victim “had been killed by a blow on the back of the head administered with a heavy blunt instrument, almost certainly a large piece of metal” (Dahl 95). An interesting event to take place in the house was Mrs. Maloney serving supper too the gentleman investigating the death of her husband. Not just any dinner, she served Lamb leg. It's ironic for a widow who loved too the dearest to be eagerly serving supper to the detectives investigating the death of her husband. It's almost as if Mrs. Maloney is trying to prove her innocence in the situation. Another interesting statement from one of the police officers helping themselves “That's the hell of a big club the gut must've used to hit poor Patrick" (dahl 124). although the officer might have stated this as a joke. It's noticeable that the size of the Lamb matches the description of the murder weapon the policemen are looking for.also when the men arrived the lamb was heating up in the oven meaning it had not been long since Mrs. Maloney has started on making the dinner, and the victim was hit in the head , it is possible to believe that “Mary Maloney simply walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his
