The first stage of human history according to Karl Marx was primitive communism. In this stage, human life was really simple and there was no sign of advanced tools or agriculture. All humans were equal especially men and women, so gender equality was present. They were having the same status in a family or groups. Both men and women worked equally and all tried to achieve what is necessary for living which at that time was food. In this phase, the food that they relied on was only hunting wild animals in order to live on. Thus, people were hunters and gathers. They basically hunted and gathered food from nature. Because human started to produce their daily needs by themselves, the need for private lands increased. In this stage agriculture was the key. People learned to improve plants and animals on a large scale to fund large populations. everyone had their own land in order to produce their source of living. Accordingly, the rich and poor differences were starting to rise. Thus, the term master-slave seemed to appear at this stage because some had it all and some others did not have anything. As a result, here the idea of class appears, there are always a slave-owning (ruling class) and the slaves themselves. The slaves owned no property and had to work for no money, and in most cases women, who were also homeless during this period. In this period a government was necessary because there was poor and rich and someone had to make laws in order to keep peace among people. However, in this era women were the ones with least power and they could not participate in anything, they had to work constantly. This ended when the cities expanded and it needed more slave in order to maintain its balance. The need to keep conquering more slaves created huge problems, such as maintaining the massive empire that resulted.
