Clara Brown was a slave. She was born in 1800-1885. She was married at the age of 18 to another slave together. They had 4 children. In 1853 Brown 's family was broken apart and sold to different slave owners.
Annis Stockton is from Darby Pennsylvania , she was born on July 1, 1776 , to Catherine Williams and Elias Boudinot. She is the oldest daughter and the second of 10 children. Her family later moved to princeton and Annis was opened to the intellectual area, and her parents gave her a very good education. She however became particularly interested in poetry, and published her first poem at age 16: ” To the Honorable Colonel Peter Schuyler, in the New-York Mercury and New American Magazine.”

The autobiography "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Written by Herself" written by Harriet A. Jacob and published in 1861, is a story following the life of Linda Brent, set in North Carolina. At age six, her parents and her mother's mistress died, and she was sold to a man named Dr.Flint, a cruel and abusive man. She tried to escape, but during this time, it was easier said than done. This book follows Linda Brent and her true stories during slavery, and readers can truly understand what life was like for female slaves. While following Linda through her experiences, the author can convey an array of emotions using ethos, juxtaposition, and syntax.

“Young Goodman Brown” Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Brown” seems like a very dark and mysterious piece. It is not as easy to read but from just reading the first few paragraphs, one can foresee a troubling ending for the story. Goodman Brown’s wife, Faith requested from him: “put off your journey until sunrise” (p. 304). She said that she is troubled when she is alone and it seems that there is something that bothers her that night of all the nights.
Causes and Effects the “It-Can’t-Happen-To-Me ” Mentality The “it-can’t-happen-to-me” mentality is a way of thinking in which people see or know that things happen to other people, but they believe that nothing of the sort could ever happen to them. We all have this mentality at some point, but some people are unable to get past it. The “it can’t happen to me” mentality is dangerous and leads to people, particularly young people, taking part in dangerous activities. There are many causes and effects of this mentality.
