Katie is friend with Will because they have similarities and Katie feels comfortable/happy around Will. Katie has been Will's friend for a very long time. They have a strong bond! Evidence to support this idea is the summary at the back of the book. The author wrote "Katie has been Will's friend since elementary school." More evidence to prove that Katie is friend with Will is on page 12 in Katie's perspective the author wrote "Jenna shook her head. 'Sheesh! No wonder why he doesn't have any friends.' 'He's got us.' Katie is smart, here is prove " I couldn't believe I was here. Me, Katie McGillvary, straight- A student and all-around rule follower." Will is a weird person but he is also smart here is evidence from the text "'For someone so smart, he sure acts stupid,' Jenna said." They go well together because they are both smart. Even though Will is different from other kids, Katie still is his friend, because she know that everyone is different in one way or another.
