Key Accomplishments Today’s marketplace is vastly different from the business world of yesterday and if modern companies hope to be successful, they need to evolve with the times. If a corporation wants to garner a greater share of the market in this fast-paced economy, they will need innovative ideas and the ability to adapt to changes. The heart of every business is the people who perform the daily services that make or break the company and happy employees are more productive, which in turn leads to greater productivity. Capability is a quality that allows individuals to learn new skills sets or gain knowledge and a person with capability has the potential to acquire new talents (Celine, 2017). Employees with the ability to learn, adapt, and change, create a workforce that is able to innovate and respond to the changing marketplace (Ulrich, 2004). Capabilities increase functioning, leading to greater productivity and new skills create a stronger propensity to perform certain tasks, which generates employees that are more suitable (Celine, 2017). Over time, capabilities develop into competencies, which actually reflect the quality of an employee’s work (Celine, 2017).
