Some of the key people and effects of the Protestant Reformation were, Martin Luther, a monk in the Catholic church who wanted a simplified religion and direct relationship with God. Phillip the II (2), the Spanish King, King Henry VIII (8), Charles V, the emperor of the holy roman Empire and Queen Elizabeth I (1), the later Queen of England. The Pope of the catholic church, was charging people money, and saying there sins were forgiven. Martin Luther did not agree with this and decided to do something about it. He posted a list of ninety five things that he thought needed to change in the Catholic church on the front door of the Church. Later Charles V asked Luther to give up his views. Luther refused, this started the Protestant Reformation.
