The Kilauea Hawaii Volcano is the world's most active shield volcano in history, located on the southern shores of the Hawaiian island. This volcano is also called Mount Kilauea. The Mount Kilauea Hawaii volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983. It is also a shield volcano formed by (add notes). Shield volcanoes are also called the “Warrior’s shield”. The Kilauea volcano has about more than 24 craters. An event that occurred at the Kilauea volcano was the eruption of 1924.This eruption was explosive and one of the worst eruptions Kilauea Hawaii has ever experienced.Comparing how the volcano looks today to the past there can be a lot of changes because of so many volcanic events that occurred. The Kilauea volcano is also part of a hotspot.
The steam explosive eruption of 1924 started on May 22, 1924. The eruption was named Halemaʻumaʻu. Most volcanoes erupt because when enough magma builds up in the magma chamber, it forces its way up to the surface and erupts which is how many volcanoes cause eruptions. The Kilauea 1924 eruption was caused when magma and molten rock drops into the water table and groundwater interacts with steaming hot rocks the steam builds up which starts eruptions. The tectonic plate that this volcano is on is the Pacific plate. Most volcanic eruptions

The Kilauea is even part of a big island with 5 other major volcanoes called Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, Hualalai and Kohala. The name for these volcanoes are also called the “Hawaiian islands”. The islands are built on the moving seafloor of the North Pacific plate. The Pacific plate is mostly on a floor by a single tectonic plate called “Pacific plate”. The volcanoes are formed on a hotspot. A hotspot is an area where magma from deep within the mantle melts through the crust above it. The volcano over time drifts westward and they get older. The Kilauea is the youngest volcano out of them
