Reality TV star Kim Kardashian’s career was recently put on a hold after she was diagnosed with Psoriasis. This skin disease that its’ mark on the body in the form of itchy red patches that are basically dead cells that grow rapidly that form due to a fault in the immune system. There is no cure as up to now for Psoriasis, but it can be controlled by various methods that can keep it from spreading, slowing the growth of the cells and reducing the area affected. Treatment methods include using a broad range of creams and ointments, light therapy and other forms of medication that can introduced into the body either orally or can be injected. The treatment differs depending on the severity of the condition but in Kim’s case being the appearance of itchy red patches all over her body, the treatment takes much longer periods of time than in the case of a patient who has a few patches appearing on the legs and torso. This disease, although not contagious, can be hereditary and it is known that Kim’s mother was also affected by the disease when she was thirty.
