In the beginning of the story, King Arthur knows he’s going to die similarly to when Christ knew he was going to die when he was praying in the Garden. Arthur’s companion, Bedivere, has a role similar to an apostle of Jesus. In lines 55-57, Arthur tells Sir Bedivere that he will perish by the people whom he made and Merlin swore that he should come again to rule once more but let what should be. This also alludes to when Christ was talking about his coming again and final judgment. In lines 78-80, Tennyson describes Arthur’s rising from the dead and goes to where lay mighty bones of ancient men. This also alludes to Jesus rising from the dead and when he went up the mountain and saw Moses and Elijah. Later in the story we see Sir Bedivere betray King Arthur just as Peter betrayed and lied to Jesus when He was arrested.
