How Far Will One Go for Their Personal Desire? Many people are driven by their desires but are incapable of rising over them as they fall too short. The ambition of the characters in the play abolishes any obstacle in the path of their objective. The ambition blinds its victims from their capabilities and propels them to an extreme degree. In Shakespeare’s play, King Lear, ambition propels the characters toward their desires even without considering the impact of others and the consequences. The ambition overwhelms the characters to the point where it breaks bonds, manipulates and deceive from the truth, and create disruption through the whole kingdom including the weather.
