King Solomon. King Josiah. King Hezekiah. These Godly men all had love and respect for the Lord. King Solomon was the wisest king that ever lived. King Josiah did what was right in the sight of the Lord. King Hezekiah grew ill, cried out to God and received 15 more years of life. One brave King who loved God strongly, was King David. King David, a mighty man of God, humbly lived his life serving God. Throughout life he wrote songs of praise to Abba Father, worshiped Him passionately, and fought for Him.

David made political and moral mistakes but his humility at all times made him strong enough to subject him self to the hand of God, and this humility was based on the quality of his spiritual attitude toward God which shows itself in his Psalms ( Lockyer, 1961).
The book was originally titled Tehillim, which means "praise songs" in Hebrew. The English tittle of "Psalms" originated from the Septuagint's Greek tittle Psalmoi, also meaning "songs of praise" (Book of Psalms Overview). Also, David played stringed instruments which resembled a harp, called a lyre and a nevel. As a minstrel, he was able to soothe King Saul when overcome by morbid melancholy. He used his talents to entertain others but, he glorified God while composing songs, singing and playing the lyre or the nevel.
David the Worshiper David worshipped God fervently, with zeal and passion. He praised God day and night, and cried out in times of sorrow and trouble. David had humility while dancing before the Lord. He did not watch who was around, and had no fear of what the kingdom thought of his worshipping. Another form of worship is repentance. David had a very repentant heart, which was one of the things that God cherished in him. God loved to see His people rejoice in Him and worship before Him.
A True Warrior At the age of around 15, David fought and gained the victory over the giant Philistine, Goliath. David saw the need for a warrior. Immediately he realized that God was calling to be that combatant. With everyone he loved against him, he still stood strong in his decision, because of his trust in Yahweh. David not only asked God to help him in his plans, he looked upon himself as a helper in God's plans (Lockyer, 1961). David fought Goliath with 5 stones and a slingshot. Through the protection of Almighty God, David slayed the giant. Never were two warriors more unequally matched, but when David was victorious over Goliath there was no empty boasting, no reliance on his own powers. God gave the victory and David gave Him all the glory (Lockyer, 1958)Throughout the life of King David
