An essay arguing that the film adaptation of the Kite Runner took away the complexity of the novel. This is due to the fact that the movie left out a lot of aspects that built a relationship between viewer and character. Which puts the novel on a different level in terms of character development which is what this complex story needs for someone to enjoy it.
The movie adaptation of the Kite Runner diminishes the complexity of the story due to the difficult casting.
For instance the movie had to leave out Hassan’s birthday present from Baba, being the surgery to get rid of the harelip due to make up not being good enough to incorporate it and there not being a boy that meets the requirements of Hassan available.

Another occasion where the film adaptation left out content for seemingly no reason other than shortening the film. This was the American embassy arc.
This was an important part of the novel because it helped create a “wall” that Amir had to pass to test his character once again but this time Amir had to help someone climb over the wall showing character growth. This process severely saddens sohrab driving him to insane lengths to deal with it. This rounds Amir’s character off bringing him back to god.
Chapter 25,pg 301: “I bow to the west, then I remember I haven’t prayed for over fifteen years.”
The biggest thing that sets the film and the novel apart is the narration by Amir.
