Identify Amir’s strongest emotion in chapter1-12. Which emotion are persistent, and which change over time? Based on these emotions and how they are presented, compare Amir with one another character from the novel and judge which of these characters is more in touch with their true emotion and which of them is more justified in feeling the way they do. The author used this line ‘Never mind that to me, the face of Afghanistan is that of a boy with a thin-boned frame, a shaved head, and low-set ears, a boy with a Chinese doll face perpetually lit by a harelipped smile.’ to illustrate Hassan was a boy always with a smiling face. He used the laughter to covered his sorrow or other negative emotion. The disability of harelipped made a mask of smile for him. ‘Still, I don't know it.? If he felt the sting of my tease, his smiling face didn't show it.’ In the beginning of the story, ‘Hassan never talked about his mother, as if she'd never existed.’ Hassan’s mother abandoned them, it’s quite ashamed for this family. Every child wanted a nice mom. However, he never mentioned his mother. Similarly, consider the line: ‘Hassan's face changed. Maybe not changed, not really, but suddenly I had the feeling I was looking at two faces, the one I knew, the one that was my first memory, and another, a second face, this one lurking just beneath the surface. Indeed, Amir was not a good actor to have a mask for hiding emotion, the envious, the jealousy was easily to find. Hassan was a pure boy to hide his true emotion even controlled his tear and his father had no ability to seek out his true emotion. Again, Hassan sacrificed a lot for Amir, but he even did not feel grateful towards Hassan at that time. Hence he justified in having negative emotion. The author built the most wonderful perfect young boy -Hassan, like the knight to protected
