A) The meaning of this word ?he? is that he is using the third person for something that was about him. He starts his essays by telling the story of a young boy; the readers do not know who this boy is, this will make them curious, it will draw the attention. The author used this as a hook

B) Gratitude is something that means a lot to him, he is very grateful for all the experiences he had to go through because it made him understand the indifference of people. Not only that but he is also grateful. In the speech he pays special gratitude to Hillary Clinton for helping around the world, for not being indifferent.

C) The legacy he was talking about in this speech is how we are all indifferent, as long as the problem does not involve us, we do not care. We have no sympathy, we do not help. All of this will be judged later on, the judgement will be harsh because it is not human nature to leave the ones in need

D) What the author means by this is that he is telling us some historical facts. Kristallnacht is a day, more specifically November 9, 1938.
