As the story comes to a close i can see how this will continue to happen in future events. Enrique wants to believe that his family won’t be too hurt by his decision but he cycle of disappoint will most likely continue in my opinion. From the words of Lalo Guerrero himself: “In 1959, I wrote a song about a Martian who came to Earth to clear up certain misunderstandings about Mars” (Guerrero, Preface xi). This was a direct analogy to the life of Mexicans at this time, where the Martian describes the Mexicans, Mars describes Mexico, and Earth is
After a run-in with the cops, Enrique is arrested, but Carlitos gets away and finds his mother at the payphone she described to him during one of their calls. In reality, Carlitos would know little to no English and one the best ways for him to learn English would be through the language-based theory of learning with a focus on the communicative approach and zone of proximal development. The language-based theory of learning should be what guides Carlitos’ acquisition of the English language because it would be the

Imagine your mother is dead to you and under the title of “mother”, she is an empty void like the craters in the moon. The poem Moon written by Kathleen Jamie in 2012 emphasises the relationship between the speaker and the speaker’s mother. Jamie uses metaphor, imagery and symbolism to demonstrate the speaker’s and the speaker’s mother’s troubled relationship. The moon is an extended metaphor for the speaker’s mother. The speaker and mother has a rocky relationship, to the extent the speaker say that the moon is “not [the speaker’s] mother.”
