Is it possible for someone to be deathly afraid of your favorite vegetables, drinks, or even pickles? Believe it or not, there are thousands of people across the world with these strange food phobias. Here are 10 unusual food phobias you probably didn 't know existed.

Chicken

Believe it or not, this common dinner dish is not too well received by some around the world. A certain episode of Maury comes to mind when talking about this phobia. This slippery cucumber has earned itself many enemies believe it or not. Why you ask? The texture may be to blame for many cases. For most people that struggle with pickle related anxiety, it is the texture that drives them up the wall. The rubber-like outer coating and jelly-like inside are enough to drive any pickle enemy mad. Maybe it is the sourness or semi-sweetness to some, but pickles nonetheless make many run for the hills.

There may not yet be any scientific name for this phobia, but that does not make the fear less valid for some. The distinct scent can even contribute to these physical symptoms. This phobia mainly stems from the fear of what consuming alcohol can do to people and others around them. They will sometimes fear the actual individuals who consume alcohol, much like the belligerents stumbling out of a bar or those who’ve had one too many at the party. They know of the symptoms of alcohol consumption and are anxious to avoid them at all costs.

This bizarre phobia makes social gatherings and family get together’s a chore. Many people struggling with this fear are forced to avoid social situations where alcohol will most definitely be present. However, there can be a positive outlook to all of this. Imagine the benefit of not having to accept every wedding invitation or attend backyard barbeques from those annoying neighbors down the street.
