The stories of the ladies in Maryland only women prison allowed me to see the reality of what women are truly facing and dealing with. These women have been fighting with their self for so long to come and find them self-having to face time behind bar. Trying to figure out how they’re going to find some type of peace and comfortable with in such a small cans cold area with no one to help through the emotions that there feeling. They are the example of what people are saying about women being incarcerated, they are dealing with anger build up from the past and some binding behind the fact and being deceitful about the reason they are really there. It has nothing to do with color and the fact that Whites make better decision then African Americans , but the matter of the fact that they committed a crime that caused them there life's and others that are attached to them as well . Verses being able to wake up in your own house , going where ever you please , and the simple fact of seeing sun light , those privileges are now gone . These ladies weren't in a position to see everyday life as a privilege and opportunity until there were faced with the fact of being locked up in a cage. Both are incarcerated women, one pregnant with twins and the other battling with which role she was to choose and live out, male or female. Gender in both of these ladies life’s make a big impact on what they are dealing with internally and even was an effect to them while committing the crimes that they did and even the places they were previous to the crime that lead them behind bars. Gender role is not only a factor that Jill has been dealing with now as well as her husband will have to be a part of it as well. Jill had lived in the streets for quite a time even before she was pregnant with the twin she as well had other little ones at home that she wasn’t able to be a mother to. She made the decision to want to free into her wants and desires as her husband was at home with the kids and providing for them the best way he could. Facing the fact of whether she wants to be the loving and acting mother and wife or do the opposite of what society said an image of a woman was or to fight against that image and create her own which in the end affected all her love one even the one that weren’t born
