1. Introduction Trait theories focus on traits, that which is stable and relatively constant over different situations and times, as being the main indicators of personality (Prager, n.d.). The continuous aspect of traits offers a predictability of future behaviours across various conditions; thus allowing for personality archetypes to be created and assumptions to be made within the constructed archetypes. Multiple theories have been developed that establish various archetypes or models which allow people to be classified into personality types. Some theories propose a number of personality types where as others propose a continuum of personality. For the purpose of this essay, only the most prominent trait theories of personality will be explained and each theory’s viability in offering a comprehensive account of Lance Armstrong’s personality will be argued. Furthermore, the most applicable theory will be used to classify Lance Armstrong with a justification. 2.
