The Olympic games happen every four years. The Olympic games was founded by Baron Pierre de Coubertinin 1896. The Olympic games is when the greatest athletes from around the world represent their country by competing against other athletes from other countries in a range of different sports. There are a total of 26 sports. In the 2016 Olympics in Rio two extra sports (golf and rugby 7’s) have been added. The Olympics is a very competitive competition and there is a lot of pressure on the athletes to represent their countries well and win a medal. Athletes continue to use performance enhancing drugs to better there physical performance. The major problem with drug testing at the Olympics is that the testing is always a step behind the drugs. Because the athletes and their coaches are finding ways to mask the use of drugs and also the drugs are so advanced that it is hard to test for. An example of an athlete who use advanced drugs such as injecting EPO is Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong is an example of someone that has been outed by his team mates that he was using EPO. Lance was the winner of Le Tour de France from 1999-2005. Lance Armstrong was constantly being accused of doping, which he always denied. Lance had had over 600 drugs tests including 26 unannounced tests by various anti-doping authorities. Lance was finally discovered as a drug cheat when his team mates Lance was At the age of 30, New Zealander Stephen Swart walked away from cycling great Lance Armstrong and what was to become the biggest doping conspiracy in sports history.
