This quote can also be used as a hook as it raises awareness of a wrong doing in complete opposition to America’s governing body’s foundation-freedom and transparency. The introduction starts with the mention of “The First Amendment of the United States Constitution” which is “unbridged freedom of speech” however, the paragraph ends with “shame into submission” that is meant to emphesise on the social pressure that is carried with speech. The ending of paragraph justaposes with the founding fathers’ idea of the “great” United States. The comparison between the founding’s fathers’ ideal society and its current state is an appeal to pathos as this would go against a nationalist point of view, which is to protect what their accessor has envisioned. Moreover, Valentina House compares America to the famous 1984 dystopian written by George Orwell. The comparison is to emphasize on the current situation- freedom of expression as this concept is no longer in existence in a dystopian
