“Where are you from?” is a common question people ask if you look ethnically mysterious. Being a different race with unique facial features shows you are, not what they call in the United States “American”. Evelyn Alsultany was born and raised in New York City. Her ethnicity is Arab from her father's side and Cuban from her mother's side. She describes the social issue, she confronts the way people approach her creating assumptions, consequently making her feel excluded from her cultural background.
The passage describes the scene from the wedding of Paco el del Molino and his wife Águeda which took place 7 years before Paco’s requiem mass. Mosén Millán, the priest who performed the wedding ceremony and is about to perform the requiem mass, is recalling the wedding while sitting in his sacristy armchair. This is a key scene in Ramón J. Sender’s Réquiem por un campesino español, one of his most famous works. It is based on the life and death of a Spanish peasant in the lead up to and during the Spanish civil war.

Unfortunately her career was cut short by the president of her own fan club, Yolanda Saldívar. Sofia De La Torre is currently a hardworking, 16-year-old junior at Victory Early College. Sofia was born and raised in Houston, Texas by her parents who are persistent about her getting an education. Her goal is to complete high school with her Associates Degree along with a high G.P.A. Her dream is to become a pediatrician and have many scholarships that would cover most of the expenses for college. Sofia in the end intends to be the second person in her family to complete high school and go to college where she would graduate as a Pediatrician. Her favorite activities include swimming and reading.
Nina Simone was an iconic singer, pianist, and civil rights activist who made a lasting impact on music and society. Born Eunice Kathleen Waymon on February 21, 1933, in Tryon, North Carolina, Simone was the sixth of eight children in a poor family. Despite her family's financial struggles, Simone showed an early aptitude for music and began playing piano at a young age. Simone's talent soon became evident to her family and community, and they raised money to pay for her music lessons.

But the most dangerous gang in the world is Mara Salvatrucha. This gang is better known as MS-13. This is the most deadliest gang in the world.
The poems “On the Pulse of Morning” and “One Today” both illustrate the effects of cultural diversity among Americans in the 20th and early 21st centuries. Maya Angelou beautifully describes the importance of coming together despite our differences when she says, “So say the Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew The African, the Native American, the Sioux, The Catholic, the Muslim, the French, the Greek The Irish, the Rabbi, the Priest, the Sheik, The Gay, the Straight, the Preacher, The privileged, the homeless, the Teacher. They hear. They all hear The speaking of the Tree.” This describes how regardless of your race, religion, or sexuality, you have the right to freedom, peace, and security.
The Two Fridas by Frida Kahlo When Frida Kahlo painted, The Two Fridas she was dealing with the divorce of her husband and embraced herself fully. In this masterpiece Frida illustrates her past and current self with divine detail with her skills of her brush. Frida creates a timeline through herself portrait of what was and is now by captivating her audience through the struggles of divorce, a heart condition, and losing herself. In the painting, she creates a picture in the audience eyes of her inner turmoil by illustrating through ethos and pathos.
This essay examines one of the many self-portrait paintings by Frida Kahlo called ‘broken column’ (1944). In this painting Kahlo portrays herself as a complete full bodied woman while also reflecting her broken insides. She stands alone against a surreal barren fissured landscape that echoes the open wound in her torso. A broken stone column replaces her damaged spine and is protected by a white orthopaedic corset, while sharp nails pierce into her olive naked flesh. Frida is partially nude except for the corset and white bandages.
“La bella citta da Sorrento,” my father called out as we arrived on the shores of Sorrento, Italy. It was the day before my fifteenth birthday, and my mother promised that over the summer we would take our boat out and visit the beautiful city I wish to one day call home. The water on the beaches are such a clear blue. The sand as white as the feathers of a dove. Then when night falls upon the background of the horizon, the stars twinkle and the moon sits upon the city’s hilltops.
In Self-Portrait the images on both sides of the border can be understood as the ideological tools of national propaganda. Kahlo keeps the history alive as she portrays a true vision of Mexico. Frida celebrates the cross-cultural identity that Mexico embraced after the turmoil of the revolution - a heritage of, Indian, American, Spanish, and British to just name a few. Her paintings became a connecting thread of Mexico’s history as she did not neglect tying the time in which she lived to the Aztec past (pbs.org). Victor Zamaudio-Taylor, an art historian, states that she has become "a model for Mexican Americans and Hispanics in the United States because she nurtures a sense of who [we] are and of a long history and of continuities."
Rivera was a successful artist and member of Mexico's communist party. Infamously known as a womanizer, he and Kahlo suffered a turbulent marriage. After her and Rivera's first divorce Kahlo decided to renounce her femineity. Kahlo captures this experience through the artwork of "Self-portrait with cropped hair" (1940). The artwork is an oil on canvas work conveys Kahlo's self-punishment for her failed marriage to Rivera.
Frida Kahlo created many glorious pieces. One of her most intriguing pieces is The Two Fridas. The image is quite symbolic and meaningful. Kahlo was a Mexican artist greatly known for her self portraits and the pain, passion and feminism of her paintings. The name of the piece I choose to analysis is Las dos Fridas, also known as The Two Fridas.
