The texts “ Insect Farmers” by Washington Post and “ Eating Bugs” by Miguel Vilar and Laura Allen have both similarities and differences. First, both articles explain that bugs are healthy.For example, on page _22_ of “ Eating Bugs” the text states “Crickets and grasshoppers are loaded with carbohydrates...Termites, beetles, and earthworms are very high in protein”. Similarly, on paragraph 8 of “ Insect Farmers” it says “They pack a powerful protein-filled punch into a small, low-calorie package.”This is similar because they both explain in different ways how eating bugs are healthy for you.In both cases they believe that eating bugs are healthy for you.

A second similarity is that they both persuade.For example in paragraph 8 in “Insect Farmers” it says “ I initially got interested in eating bugs when I went to Thailand in 2006 ,” said Kevin Bachhuber , founder of Big Cricket Farms. “This is really delicious.” Also in paragraph 2 with subtitle “ Bugs To Go- the New Fast Food “ Eating insects would make the environment, too. WE kill billions of insects a year with strong poisons, called pesticides...They end up in rivers and kill fish and other living things.”This is similar because they both persuade you to eat bugs. One way the texts differ is because one of the texts only state the pros and the other states the pros and cons.On page 21-25 of “ Eat Your Bugs” the text states all the pros but never states any cons. In contrast, in the text of “Insect Farmers” it states pros and cons such as how bugs are healthy but we also need to think about the logistics of eating bugs.This information differs because one state's pros but the other says that we still need to think about the cons of eating bugs.
