Introduction
When it comes to committing crimes, criminals often predict several outcomes
that can occur in the course of the crime they are going to commit. It can be what could happen
on the way to the crime, to what can happen while committing the crime to what can happen
after the crime is committed. Never really thinking about getting caught, but these are some of
the challenges criminals face. In this body of work however, it will be discussed what challenges
law enforcement officials face when it comes to cybercrime, what challenges present itself when
it comes to enforcing the law and investigating cybercrimes in different jurisdictions as well as
ways that law enforcement officials should have the ability to investigate

Cybercrimes face the same challenges as well. According to Wolf, Internet Crime Complaint
Center reported that an estimate $239 million in loss. The reason for such a loss is because
adequate analytical and technical capabilities for law enforcement. Currently, the timeline it can
take for an official to be trained and become proficient enough and for the cybercrime reported
and investigated is a period of 12 months. Staff in the internet crimes department are limited and
there are some who are not capable or willing to handle such investigations. The rationale that
causes such a long period of time it takes for cybercrimes to be investigated is due to the fact that
technology is constantly advancing and that gives criminals the upper hand to advance with it.
The best way to combat this is to have individuals set in place that have experience in IT
hardware and software, forensic tools and technical skills that can give officials the advantage
over criminals (Wolf, 2009).
