The book Cop in the Hood made me more aware of what cops have to deal with now-a-days. There are several different policies that ensure people’s freedoms, however, that makes a cop’s job much more difficult. After reading this book I was also made aware how important people in society are to a cop. It makes their job easier, which in-turn allows society to be a safer place for all people. A cop is not able to stop all crimes without the help of society.
When it comes down to it, officers have the great responsibility of keeping citizens safe and if there is no trust between these groups of people, then the system will not be successful and it will fail. Those in uniform have acquired a large feeling of distrust from citizens in some places because of these unfortunate shooting incidents. We need to work on building a better relationship between police and citizens because we are all in it together. The police are listening, they are there to help. It is a work in progress and every day we are moving toward a better tomorrow where we can all be seen

In the last 10 years, we saw many conflicts between police officers and citizens, which result into dead of innocent people and it was not a good image for police department. One of the issues is that the law enforcement gives the police
Police officers are perceived as enforcers of the law and also the ones who protect society. When they carry out their line of duty, it is for the sake of the safety upon society, ensuring
Being in Law Enforcement is a 24/7/365 lifestyle that not only affects the officer by never being able to put down his guard (except maybe for when they are at home), but their family as well. It affects everything from missed holidays, anniversaries to birthday celebrations and can even affect the simplest thing as holding hands with your significant other in public (that gun hand has to stay empty at all times). An officer continuously checks his surroundings for danger, which affects where you can sit in a restaurant, where you park your car, how you dress, and where you shop. What most people do not understand is “the job” affects every single second of a police officer’s and their family’s life. They have to plan everything around
Prior to Chief Davis’ transition to the top executive position, the department worked towards maintaining the professional pattern of policing (Thacher, 2000b). In fact, the department’s leadership attempted to remove the majority of outside influences. Nevertheless, the department was proud of its training program, its professional appearance, and longevity in the community. But, eventually, the lack of input from city hall, community, and lack of willingness to transform with the times brought about the change in leadership. Chief Davis came into his role with a definite vision for the future and developed a plan to realize his objectives.
These officers should encourage the community to be more involved in the prevention of crime. This will also help all communities, not just the big cities, feel more confident and comfortable in the system that serves them. There is currently so much tension between the police and the
They are expected to help the police and even are recommended by the government. If I was in charge they would not be in such a high power, so we would need to change the behaviors of the current and future police. This could be done by providing extra training and a more in depth education. To really ensure a long term change, we would also have to recruit and hire more law enforcement. I would have each officer in a different specialty to really excel at their job because many people do not believe the police are doing their job or if so they are not doing it well.
The life of a police officer is hard and you cannot test anything to guarantee they are going to be on the force for a full twenty-five years. From step one of hiring someone to promoting them to detective there are countless challenges I as police chief face. The biggest challenge during the hiring process is hiring the wrong person. If I need to fire an officer because they are not doing their job correctly I am losing an investment of almost $100,000. All the time and energy it took to get that officer working is now wasted and I am the face to blame for that because I hired that
Law Enforcement wearing Body Cameras In today’s world, crime is at an all time high and it is a very serious issue and we need a solution to take care of these serious problems these problems will only grow over time and it is time something is done about it. It is very important to keep this world a safe place as our population grows. A solution could be for police to wear body cameras to prevent abuse towards law enforcement, police abuse towards citizens, and to help in some court cases involving police brutality.
There are significant dynamics in the traits and trends of political and eras of policing. With heightened need to secure citizens from law offenders, those who receive police training acquire skills and expertise from the various academies that are viewed as significantly related to their work within the work environment. I opine that community policing, an aspect of police networks creates a workable partnership between the members of the community and police unit as a means of moderate the inherent fear in the people in the event of criminal activities. Conventional policing and community policing are variant in many aspects.
The main reason we need police according the Peels first principle is to prevent crime and disorder. This is an important principle for all law enforcement. If the police did not prevent crime and disorder, then there would not be a reason for a police force at all. In todays modern
When facing this issue, some people are to believe that cops have more important things to do, whether it be a larger, full-scale crime, or them just not caring. It is apparently believed that those working to fix issues regarding crime, have no taste for the smaller, “irrelevant” ones that face society frequently. Whereas the distrust in our safety system stems from is without reach of comprehension, but the fact of the matter still stands behind the fallacies. Cops, although given a bad reputation through movies and society, have a job to prevent and fix any crimes that come their way, large-scale or small-scale. The small misbehaviors that
Law Enforcement has a main reason in life, in why it exists and what exactly it does. It a main job in life, it helps keep people safe in the world today. Law enforcement helps keep criminals away and provides criminal justice. It has made many systems that have helped figure out those who committed crimes (“Law Enforcement” FBI). Many people ask themselves why the law enforcement exists.
