The way the Aztecs made there food is so different then how Mexican food is made in the United States today due to the mass production of products used by most
The Aztecs used a sacred calendar. Their writing system they used had symbols and glyphs. They were the ones who created the 365 day agricultural calendar. Two of the most popular games they played were the ball game and the flying bird game. The Aztecs liked sports as there entertainment.
Everything was perfectly planned out. As the calendar says, they have to sacrifice one of their own to please the Gods. The Mayan people would get together as a whole to practice their religious ceremony at the temple. The Mayan and Aztec civilizations are two ancient civilizations that were located near Central and South America. The Mayan civilization was more remarkable than the Aztecs because of their advanced knowledge.
A major part of Aztec life, centered around religion. The Aztecs believed in a polytheistic, animistic religion. There were about 128 major deities, including gods of rain, fire, water, corn, the sky, and the sun, which showed you how large of a scale their religion was. When it comes to Aztec religion and culture, it becomes crucial to
Introduction The Aztecs were a civilization of many things but the top 2 were Agriculture and Human sacrifice. The Aztecs were Polytheistic (believed in many gods). They also were the no.1 in corn because they had so much. Lastly they had a lot of human sacrifice in their city/empire mainly to pay respect towards gods. Historians should emphasize agriculture when on the topic of Aztecs
The Aztecs were one of the most famous and successful early civilizations of the Americas that we know of, who ruled an empire in the modern day country of Mexico from 1350 to 1519. From their capital city of Tenochtitlan, now known as Mexico City, to their daily routines, the Aztecs had many achievements that they deserve recognition for. Two very important components in the history of the Aztecs are agriculture and human sacrifice. Although they both play huge roles in Aztec culture, historians should emphasize on their methods of farming. The reasons why historians should center their focus on the Aztecs' agricultural techniques are they affected the growth of their empire, were used on a huge scale, and were very unique in comparison to other
The atlatl was a revolutionary tool that was used by humans more than 25,000 years ago. Different cultures and periods had their own differences and uses, when it came to making the atlatl. An atlatl is a spear-throwing weapon, it was made for leverage and to achieve greater velocity. It all depended on how they used their atlatl, like was it used for hunting, or was it used for warfare. The Aztecs used the atlatl in an different way than how a human would use it in the Upper Paleolithic.
The Aztecs, like most ancient civilizations, were practicing a polytheistic religion. The most well-known of those civilizations possibly being Ancient Greece. The similarities don’t end there; when most people think of the Aztecs and their religion, they think of their inimical ritual of sacrifice. Thousands of years before, in North Africa, the Carthaginians were sacrificing many of their people, even infants. Most researchers believe it was to appease their gods and even to control the population, which are also reasons Aztec experts believe to be true for the Mesoamerican civilization.
While many may be aware of the Aztec civilization, their accomplishments can often be overshadowed by the time period when they were conquered by Spanish explorers, such as Hernan Cortez. However, the Aztecs were a prospering society before their downfall to the Spaniards. The Aztec’s demise is not the only characteristic to remember about one of the most commonly recognized civilizations of the fifteen hundreds. As an ancient Mesoamerican civilization displaced by powerful explorers, the Aztecs can still be seen as an organized society driven by their spirituality and traditions. The Aztecs used an organized system of chinampas and documents surveying what conquered peoples owed them, ensuring that they would be productive on a daily basis.
Even if the Mayans also made temples, it was more extraordinary to see how the Aztecs had absolutely nothing but were able to work with what they had. At the same time, the Aztec had an advanced system for writing and keeping records. The Aztecs used hieroglyphics just like Egyptians, but there 's were a little different. Aztecs writing, “...had three primary functions, namely to mark calendrical dates, to record accounting mathematical calculations, and to write names of people and places”(Lawrence Lo, 2012). This was different than everybody else 's writing because they didn 't have an actual alphabet.
The Aztecs had a very tight way of running things. If one did not follow the rules they would be punished very severely by death. Their system was based upon sacrifices for their beloved gods, and it ran that way for many generations, until the Spanish came. Hernan Cortes, was the Spanish expedition leader, eased his way into Tenochtitlan’s throne to become emperor. He faked being a sacred god called Quetzalcoatl, so the Aztecs would be on their knees praising him and doing whatever he wished.
The Aztecs thought that the sun was weakening and needed sacrifices, and especially those of human blood, to be able to follow its course and not destroy the world. Human sacrifices were made on a large scale. The sacrifices were carried out on top of huge pyramids, to be closer to the sun, so that the blood spilled down the steps. The book: The Broken Spears, shows us how the king had no mercy for his people. Motechuzoma said to a messenger “You may rest now.”
The Aztecs have a very known reputation for their sacrificial practices. They are known to be cruel and terrifying, but looking past all of their human sacrifices, they had a great civilization, in fact, their human sacrifices were very spiritual and religious. Also, the Aztecs were the only civilization that not only provided free education to all, but required all to attend school. Along with that, they also had a very innovative agricultural system.
The Rich people were able to live in luxury houses built of sun-dried brick. Their homes were coated of whitewash to make their house shine. The rich had built-in steam baths. They took a steam bath every day. Their clothes had “special features”on them..
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, The definition of the word “Civilized” is “the condition that exists when people have developed effective ways of organizing a society and care about art, science, etc.”. Evidence found in the ingenuity of the innovations of the Aztec people clearly shows a stature of civilization. Relative to the European countries who have had dominant trade for longer than the Aztecs have existed, they may appear barbaric. However, that pales in comparison to their primitive neighbors, And despite the horrific and gruesome nature of their rituals, they still carried a form of value to them. The facts about this ancient race point to them being more of a civilization than troglodytes.
