Gikeiki and Lazy Taro are two different types of story, Gikeiki is a military narrative, and Lazy Taro is a commoner tales. Although two story take place in a completely different environment, they gave readers a same concept Gekokujo which means "the low overcomes the high" by different ways. The reasons are stared as follows. In the first place, Benkei was born in a poor families. When he born with a large size of body and long hair, people see him as evil and almost kill him. Fortunately, he survived and lived in the temple as a monk. When Benkei stolen swords by roaming the capital, he met the strongest opponent Yoshitsune. In a fair duel, Yoshitsune beat Benkei, and he persuaded Benkei to follow him. At the end of story, Benkei became the most intimate loyal majou domo beside Yoshitsune. …show more content…
In the second place, Lazy Taro is a lazy low rank civilian. One day, in the farmer's instigation, Lazy Taro decide to go to the capital Kyoto. Taro met Jiju no Tsubone in the capital, and he used his poetry talent let Tsubone to marry him. After they are married, Lazy Taro start to accompany Tsubone to imperial court. Taro's poems got the emperor's attention, at the same time the emperor find out that Taro was a lost child of a nobleman. Then the emperor raised Taro to a Middle captain and granted him domains of Kai and Shinano. The truth is deep and profound, the process of Taro became a high rank captain from a civilian, revealed the emperor has no real power at that time. The rise of lower rank soldiers seizure rights from imperial court, Gekokujo obviously show in front of
