Cussen and Block separate this argument into four main reasons. One is that with the legalization of drugs illegal business transactions will be reduced. When illegal drugs cross the border into the United States the prices of those drugs exponentially increase, the reason being is that the United States government is trying so hard to keep those drugs out. If we were to make drugs legal these drug traffickers would lose their power and income, making it one less thing to worry about. The same applies for gangs, when drugs are no longer an issue then there would be less senseless violence. This would also save many innocent live that are caught in the cross fire of these drug wars. The third point is that the prohibition of drugs give drug cartels their power. This is also seen with the prohibition of alcohol, criminals like Al Capone terrorized people because they wanted to control the alcohol trade. The same thing is happening with the drug trade, drug
