Dear Jonathon Smith, Welcome to year 7, as you commence your first week in the senior school at churchie, and I commence my 9th year at churchie, being here since prep I have learnt a lot about the history along the way. The school turns 106 years old in 2018, founded by W.P.F Morris in 1912 and was located at St. Magnus Hall, Church Street, Toowong, Brisbane and commenced on the 8th of February 1912. The school was built on the four tenets; Scholastic attainment, Spiritual awareness, Personal growth and Community service. These tenets have remand virtues of the school throughout history over the past 100 years. Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) is fully owned and operated by the Anglican Church. As the name suggests it is an Anglican Church school. The Anglican Church is one of the most important Christian denominations worldwide, with about 75 million members. The Church of England traces its roots back to the early church, but its specifically Anglican identity and its links to the State date back to the Reformation. Henry VIII started the process of creating the Church of England after his split with the Pope in the 1530s. You don't need to be an Anglican or even a Christian to be a part of the chapel services. The objective in an Anglican service is to assist in the physical, emotional, and spiritual welfare and safety in all people dealing with troubles. In a Holy Communion service, it is derived from the last supper which Jesus held with his disciples on the night before his arrest, and his crucifixion on the Friday, as we know as ‘Good Friday’.
