Letter To Utah's Terrible Air Pollution

Is pollution the problem? Is pollution part of the reason why people are living shorter? Why people have heart problems and trouble breathing, all because of pollution? We need a solution!
I am writing this letter to address the problem of Utah’s terrible air pollution, and to request that a reduction plan be put into action.
I care about Utah’s air not only because I have to breathe it but because we are destroying our natural resources. Thousands of people are breathing air that is (on a bad day) the equivalent of smoking (Frosch). Years are being cut off of people’s life because of a problem that we have not yet faced and addressed.
This issue matters because people are losing their life or living unhealthy lives because of it. Not only is it hard on humans but also on the environment and animals.
Steps need to be taken to reduce pollution in Utah’s air. I understand that you said that steps have been taken to reduce emissions such as mass transit (Frosch), but is this enough? I appreciate that you understand the importance of taking care of …show more content…

Arden Pope on people that live in metropolitan areas, he found that, 45.1 percent of deaths were contributed to by cardiovascular diseases. Whereas, only 8.2 percent was respiratory disease related. We know that air pollution is not completely the reason for atherosclerotic diseases, but we do know that air pollution causes inflammation and alters cardiac function (Pollution hard on the heart). This just shows what the pollution is doing to us. An analysis showed long term exposure to a certain particle in polluted air causes more people to die from cardiovascular conditions than respiratory conditions. (Pollution on the heart).
