For example, in one of her letters to her husband she displays her confiedent personality. Lucrezia states, “ Take care of yourself, and don’t worry about me, for I shall returned crued” (Lucrezia Tornabuoni). Despite being ill as well, she always presented herself as a strong and confident woman. She displayed her strong personality through out her letters. Even the way she talks to her husband in her letters illustrates confidence and authority, which was unusual for a woman during this time period. She took it upon herself to find a good wife for her son Lorenzo. She searched for a girl who was not just going to be a good wife, but a good mother as well. She wanted to makes sure the Medici linage would continue (Cardini, 16). She was not satisfied with her choices in Florence, decided to go to Rome on her quest for a daughter in law (Cardini, 16). It was common during this time period for the mother to decide who her son should marry (Tomas, 18). However, for the Medici this was the start of arrange marriages, and linage of unsuccessful marriage not based off love. Lucrezia changed how Medici marriages were conducted. They were no longer out of love, but rather for political opportunities. Her goal was to establish marriages that would give the Medici family better political opportunities and advantages. Lucrezia never held any public or political office, but she could exercise successfully sustainable power and influence (Cardini, 14). Her personality reflects her sustainable power she was given, and her strategic planning skills. Her strong and controlling ways are illustrated in the letters to Piero regarding Clarice Orsini, the Roman girl Lucrezia found suitable to be Lorenzo
