Gilded age 1878-1889 was the age of fast growth of industry and immigrants in America history. The production of steel and iron rose radically than other time. In contrast, the Western resources increased such as silver,lumber, and gold. As well as the transportation also improved. Railroad develop and move goods from resources rich west to east.

Politically, the first largest American labor union was formed during the Gilded age and many other organizations formed as well as violent strikes. Socially, different ethnics joined together to share their thoughts and realize the evils of big business and of the federal government. Mentally, most we 're losing their personal life while some were financially stable and glad.
The Gilded Age was an age of rapid economic growth. Railroads, factories, and mines were slowly popping up across the country, creating a variety of new opportunities for entrepreneurs and laborers alike. These new inventions and opportunities created “...an unprecedented accumulation of wealth” (GML, 601). But the transition of America from a small farming based nation to a powerful industrial one created a huge rift between social classes. Most people were either filthy rich or dirt poor, with workers being the latter.
Industrialist had a huge impact on the gilded age. The gilded age was a rapid expansion of industrialism and a massive jump in the population of immigrants in america. The industrialist during the gilded age such as Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and Vanderbilt had a big impact because of their businesses. Vanderbilt was the first of the three to be a leader of industry. Vanderbilt made millions using the railroad system and built an empire with them.
During the Gilded age, there was a group of industrialists who impacted America greatly. Industrialists like Vanderbilt, Edison, and Rockefeller all owned successful businesses and were leaders in their industries. Industrialists of the Gilded Age were Captains of Industry because they were inventive and were Philanthropists who benefited society. The term“Gilded Age” was actually coined by Mark Twain who satired the Gilded Age with a GoldenAge.
The decade between 1890 and 1900 expressed a crucial time in the United States of America’s history. Many people experienced struggles throughout this time while others prospered. Mark Twain suggested that despite the significant achievements of the United States, Americans experienced poverty. This statement is an accurate description of the lively hood people experienced in their daily lives during the Gilded Age whether it was positive or negative. Many people during this time period focused on the positive outcomes that resulted from the Gilded Age such as new inventions, the gospel of wealth, additions of land to the country, urbanization, and middle-class improvements.
It is stated in the second paragraph of the United States Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal. However, during the Gilded Age, many different crowds of people were not being treated equally. The new immigrants traveling to America had to deal with the pain and sorrow from the multiple challenges that came with Ellis Island. After all of it was over, they ventured out into the country, but had to face overcrowded living quarters, long work days, dangerous jobs, poorly paid jobs, and the threat of disease. During the same time, African Americans had a lot of limits on their rights; including, limited social rights, limited political rights, and limited economic rights.
The Gilded Age was a time of economic prosperity in the United States, and also served as the beginning of a unified workers movement standing behind the idea of simply wanting ‘more.’ Samuel Gompers of the American Federation of Labor initiated the revolutionary demand for ‘more’ moving the worker’s movement passed the economic constraints of the past and propelling it into a movement of deeper social value. The movement became one for social welfare, personal liberty, and economic freedom. Uniting the AFL behind the image of ‘more’ allowed the members to indefinitely seek an improvement in their working and living environments, and were no longer constrained to a finite amount of change. ‘More’ became a movement that was able to spread beyond the economic sphere of influence.

The Guilded age was a period of wealth and improvement which was used to cover up poverty and corruption inside the united states. Eventhough there were lots of improvements, not only in technology but also in society, there were lots of problems. Problems such as corruption and poverty. As time went on people started to realise this problems and some got improved, but others didn’t. This gilded age was a problem.
What the video reveal about the living conditions in the urban areas during the Gilded Age, was that most of the immigrants during this time lived in tenement housing. The housing that that the immigrants lived in, were homes that were in torn down, over-populated, unsanitary, lack of privacy, lack of light, and most importantly the quality of the air was terrible. The reason why I believe that the quality of the air is important is, because, the quality of the air will determine the rate disease will spread, as a result of the quality of the air, tuberculosis was common. The working condition during the Gilded Age were quite similar to the living condition, both were over-populated, and had terrible air quality.
