What does it take to survive in an extreme environment? To survive in an extreme you need to be brave, hopeful, and intelligent. In the “Story of Keesh” and “The Life of Pi” they are pushed to their limits to survive in the extreme circumstances and survive in the unknown territories. To start with, in “The Story of Keesh” by Jack London, Keesh faces danger to supply food for himself and the village.”The killing of a polar bear is very dangerous,but thrice dangerous it is,and three times thrice,to kill a mother bear with her cubs.”(pg.66) This statement shows that Keesh went to face danger, to kill the polar bear and its cubs, to get meat for the village. As it states in “The Story of Keesh” “And the winter darkness,when the north gale sweep across the ice pack,and air is filled with the flying white,and no man may venture forth. This shows that the weather is very cold and dark. Additionally in “The Life of Pi” “I was alone orphaned, in the middle of the Pacific, hanging on to an oar,an adult tiger in front of me, sharks beneath me,a storm raging about me.” These are examples of unpredictable encounters Pi has to deal with on a small lifeboat with no protection. Pi and Keesh have to survive the unpredictable with only little resources and the bravery they have.
In conclusion in the “Story of Keesh” and “The Life of Pi” Keesh and Pi are pushed to their limits to survive in the extreme circumstances and survive in the unpredictable habits of danger. to survive in the extreme they have to face danger, put priorities first, and survive in the unpredictable. Keesh’s bravery saved the village. Pi’s hope kept him going. As a result they both survived their unbelievable
