The joys of our lives are meant to be shared. When we enjoy our most blessed possessions, we are enhancing the quality of our lives. The thought that a person has a purpose on this earth automatically comes with the responsibility of paying it forward from our countless blessings. Abdul sattar Edhi, a philanthropist and nobel prize winner from Pakistan, has had a substantial effect on me. He spent his whole life taking care of others. He set a cradle outside his minimalist house where unwanted children could be left without any questions and as a result he took care of 100’s of children without expecting anything in return. He provided them with shelter, food and education to become productive members of society, instead of a burden on it. …show more content…

I love them, trust them, respect them as individuals, and the cycle of trust that started from my own childhood being treated with love and trust from my parents goes a long way, as now when my children have grown up, I chose to become an educator to continue this cycle. I have a passion to make a difference in children’s lives. I want to enable them to believe in themselves, feel that nothing is impossible to achieve, instill in them the self confidence and love for others, and for this very reason whenever I will get an opportunity I will establish a school for the underprivileged children in Pakistan. Edhi once said, “People have become educated but have not become human.” I as an educator feel the same passion to develop empathy in children as I believe this is what makes us humans. Children are like sponges - whatever we offer them they will absorb it and then reflect it in their behaviours later in their lives. As Edhi’s philanthropy touched 100’s of children’s lives, I aspire to be that “One” teacher who was remembered positively by children when they become adults themselves, who taught them a single thing “to believe in themselves”, and that changed their lives
