Lifespan Development Development psychology is a vital part of our everyday life. Every day, as we continue to learn and develop as individuals, we walk out into society and face difficulties head on. From how we interact with people, to how we handle conflict and resolution. Inferiority, is the second step under the childhood threshold. This period is critical to our development between the ages of 5 and 12, since we are yearning for acceptance and approval from others. For example, when we receive positive feedback from our professors, friends, or parents, we feel a feeling of success and comprehension, which keeps us motivated. However, when there is a lack of support or guidance, a sense of inferiority and uncertain of oneself sets in. Another example is self-doubt and how it may have a negative impact on us, such as reducing our ability to develop into confident individuals. While believed that we lived through these steps as we matured and our brains developed, the other believed that first, we can help ourselves, then we learn by the guidance of others known as the more knowledge others. Vygotsky’s thoughts were that with help and influence from those around us, it could lead to or hinder our development. Where as with Erikson, it was just another stage that has yet to reached. Vygotsky’s also believed that we did not have to wait for certain stages to learn things earlier in life as long as we had propers mentors, we were capable of anything we were coached
