Although Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut and Anthem by Ayn Rand are both pieces of dystopian literature their portrayal of family differs greatly. In Harrison Burgeron, people have a families and marriage. Harrison Bergeron differs from Anthem because they have more freedom when dealing with family.

But at times, my parents would do something odd and bizarre, such as talk really loud or argue with an employee. Their ridiculous actions would make me feel embarrassed and just want to stand somewhere far, far away from them. In the fictional short story “Abuela Invents The Zero”, Judith Ortiz’s main character, Constancia, feels the same way as me, humiliated. In a family there are many different roles; there's the role of the mother, the father, the child, the grandparents, then there’s the brothers and sisters. Every single one of those roles has different responsibilities. The father, according to most of society, is supposed to be the breadwinner for the family.
