Limits exist around us, from one eye to another as they plague our lives and restrict our actions every day. The idea of having limits might appease some, as they annoy others. This philosophy of collectivism enforces this idea of having some sort of restrictions on someone. Equality is something prominent in this philosophy, as to be no greater than anyone and to be no better than anyone. The sky's the limit does not apply to the items in this transaction. In fact, it’s whatever that can be touched by the hand, that two feet are the limit. Now surrounded by limits, the path to thought is now limited to one. Tie this idea with the protagonist's name Equality, and realize that rules limit one’s actions; however, but the rules here limit the possession of uniqueness. This action of forcing you to stop creates this social norm within the community of acceptance of being regarded to be equal. It raises this question: are you equal based on your thoughts? This dystopian-utopian society forbids thinking, as it is not a right, but rather a privilege. Internally, you can be free to think of what you want to, but on the outside, you put a smile on and do what you do. Nothing more, nothing else. But to others, you do what you are told, enjoy it or not. But the reason for any type of rule is to take a breath, and making sure the action you are committing, is influencing someone else’s behavior. This influence can be deemed good or bad, but with the dystopian-utopian society Equality is living in, they deem it as harmful. But how harmful can be unique have in this society? Equality ventures on to find this feeling of individuality within himself. Equality’s main goal was to escape the ordinary, but that ordinary was filled with high amounts of boundaries and restrictions limits. However, any type of society without any basic foundations of principle and law would be in some sort of turmoil. This basic necessity of order in the society is made possible through the use of selective rules. This is understood by Equality, as I truly believe, he will be using essential rules in his society. Those rules would keep the law and order within the community. This envisioned society by Equality would promote his main beliefs of individuality, uniqueness, and independence. Equality understands that society would have a hard time adjusting to a society where the rules are not as restrictive to one’s thoughts or beliefs. Once you are adjusted to a behavior of “going with the flow”, you put that as a social norm than realizing you have the power to think inside you. But having some type of rule differentiates the good and bad within
