The exciting piece, danced by twelve dancers is described as a showstopper. Two company members sing Crunchy Granola Suite: Brad Anderson and Eugene Fleming. These two members have been seen in previous numbers dancing, which is yet another example of the versatility Fosse expected from his dancers.

Its pendulum swung to and fro with a dull, heavy, monotonous clang; and when the minute-hand made the circuit of the face, and the hour was to be stricken, there came from the brazen lungs of the clock a sound which was clear and loud and deep and exceedingly musical, but of so peculiar a note and emphasis that, at each lapse of an hour, the musicians of the orchestra were constrained to pause, momentarily, in their performance, to hearken to the sound; and thus the waltzers perforce ceased their evolutions; and there was a brief disconcert of the whole gay company; and, while the chimes of the clock yet rang, it was observed that the giddiest grew pale, and the more aged and sedate passed their hands over their brows as if in confused reverie or meditation. But when the echoes had fully ceased, a light laughter at once pervaded the assembly; the musicians looked at each other and smiled as if at their own nervousness and folly, and made whispering vows, each to the other, that the next chiming of the clock should produce in them no similar emotion; and then, after the lapse of sixty minutes, (which embrace three thousand and six hundred seconds of the Time that flies,) there came yet another chiming of the clock, and then were the same disconcert and tremulousness and meditation as

Analysis of the catsthemusical.com website By Cătălina Mătăsaru Media Communication Masters, Year I Cats is a musical originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and first appeared on stage in 1981. Though it has gone through numerous revivals and revisions, in 2015 it was officially the longest running Broadway show, surpassing its fellow Webber written musical, Phantom of the Opera. At first glance, the official webpage of the Cats musical (or at least its frontpage) has few navigational elements. The catsthemusical.com website seems to be primarily designed for ticket sale for potential customers.
The utopian dimension of the technological wish image makes the disappearance of Gaddis’s artist type conceivable. In a utopia there is neither cause for outrage nor motivation for revenge. But if one’s vision of the artist is haunted by outrage and revenge, then utopia, as represented or expressed through the utopian dimension of the wish image, is the only place in which this obsessive, driven artist can finally be mercifully quiescent. The wish image, mocked and scorned, yet releases the self who is compulsively driven to do more from the grip of violent emotion. Gaddis’s self who could do more is dispensable in the utopia envisioned in the wish image that he ironizes because utopia does not need artists of the kind that Gaddis describes.

From beginning to end, I am captivated by the music. Each element brings a unique character to the overall piece. The music takes the listener on a suspenseful journey. The arrangement of the song gives me a visual of someone stumbling upon a dark forest and begins to hear the fast-approaching movement of something behind them. The pairing of several melodic phrases throughout the composition adds to the sense of chaos and turbulence.

For assignment 2, I choose the piece “Lohengrin: Act III: Prelude” composed by Richard Wagner. This piece is located in the “Types of Listeners I: Introduction and Casual Listeners” section. This piece really caught my attention because of the overall composing which reminded me of a cartoon story during my childhood days, particularly the Disney animation Mickey Mouse. This leads to my interest in analyzing it as a referential listener. The title of the piece is Lohengrin: Act III: Prelude which emphasizes that the piece is an introductory to a bigger performance, which in this case indicates a story of tension and conflict.
Introduction Roger’s and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is arguably one of the most well known films that many can admit to watching at least once in their lifetime. People all around the world have found this musical inspiring, as it documents growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. This incredibly well written film is based on the story of the Von Trapp family who escaped Austria when the Nazis invaded it during the war. Part of what made this movie so interesting on so many different accounts was the music that accompanied the vivid and exciting scenes. Without music, many could agree that our world would be a sad, quiet, dull and depressing place.
Law and Zentner (2012) focused on a study which aimed to construct and validate the profile of music perception skills. It can be considered that a conventional strategy for determining musical acumen and proficiency is to search on reliable factors that primarily contribute to an individual’s extent of musical training. However, depending judgment on musical ingenuity fails to recognize untrained individuals with musical skills, as well as those who, despite extensive musical training, may not be proficient. .The research is a three-pronged study, beginning with the authors developing a new test battery (Profile of Music Perception Skills, PROMS) with nine subtests, tapping multiple skills across subdomains of pitch, rhythm, and sound quality.
