There are many people in the world that we don’t understand. David Sedaris’ short story “Us & Them” is a high comedy that uses irony and wordplay to convey the idea that just because someone isn’t exactly like you doesn’t mean you can be rude to them.
In this story, there are many examples of word-play. For example David didn’t want to face the fact that the Tomkeys’ didn’t watch tv so he said, “ Maybe they listen to the radio, but you can bet your boots they’re doing something.” David believe that it wasn’t possible to be at home with you family without technology.
