In order to start a successful business, a good leader needs to be present and in charge. A strong leader will influence his workers to be successful and achieve goals. The founder and chairman of Quicken Loans, Dan Gilbert, has proven such qualities with his strong work ethic, which can be seen through the growth and success of Quicken Loans. Gilbert is not alone in this business; he has partners such as Bill Emerson, the chief executive officer, and Heather Lovier, the senior vice president of client operations. Gilbert and his staff not only know how to operate a successful business, but know how to form a team with their employees and how to create a fun work atmosphere, whether it’s tossing a football around during the day or doing group exercise activities. The employees have fun and gain enjoyment from their work; “a Quicken Loans mortgage banker jokes with a client over the phone in the company’s downtown office” (Greatplacestowork.com) is a common caption found under company photos. Good leadership is not only focused when employees are on the job, it is also focused on when employees give back to the community. A big part of the culture at Quicken Loans is making a difference for our staff and communities, “it’s the way we live”. As previously mentioned, Quicken Loans hires future employees by looking for amazing people. To them, amazing people aren’t just people who will perform well at work, but who will also find a way to give back to the community.
