The United States offers some of the best opportunities in the world to make a living. But make no mistake, living costs around the States can be high.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) came up with a tool called the Living Wage Calculator. According to this tool, the average wage in the United States is $15.84 per hour, before taxes, for a family of four (two working adults, two children). For most American families, the minimum wage does not even provide a living wage.
