Q6. With the Industrial Revolution many people came into the cities looking for work and an improvement to their lives. With new people moving into the cities everyday, the urban cities grew rapidly in size. Many of the urban cities doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled in size. The long term affect created by the city growth was that the suburbs grew as people fled to the cities. With more and more people coming into the city looking for jobs, the cities would continue to grow in size.
Industrialization was the process when industries were developed by using machines to produce goods. With the new tremendous idea of industrialization, factories would have to be built. These factories were built in or near the Britain cities and towns. Additionally, these factories would then need people who were willing to work. At the time, this wasn't a problem. Many farmers who had just lost their land moved into the cities looking for work. Poor people also wanted a job; then, they could use the money to provide for themselves. In no time, Britain was brimming with large numbers of workers. As a factory worker, you would want to live somewhere close to the factory that you worked in, it would be more efficient that way. First, people fled to the cities for work. Like I stated previously, many people were looking for a fresh start into their lives. The Industrial Revolution happened to be the answer they had been hoping for. Working in the factories was the smartest move that England's people made. Their lives would begin to change for the better; although, it would take some time and patience. Second, people took on factory jobs for the money. Many people realized that their lives would be better in taking these higher paying jobs. For many, this was a tremendous gift that words couldn't begin to describe.
