The lockout Laws in Sydney are greatly effective in the way that they do exactly what they were put in place to do in that they help lessen the amount of drunk people are on the streets and in bars at later times of the day, greatly reducing fatalities and injuries caused by drunk citizens. These laws were first put in place March 2014 and entail the prohibition of the purchase of takeaway drinks after 10:00 PM, that there is no entering a bar or establishment in the central CBD area for alcohol after 1:30 AM and no purchasing of any alcohol after 3:00 AM. These laws also allow the banning of troublemakers for 48 hours and fines or cell time if these laws are ignored.
