The feeling of loneliness is empty and tragic. It leaves a feeling that is sick to the stomach, waiting to feed on the next victim. In the novel Of mice and men two people seem to stand out as lonely individuals as they set off in search of a new job. George and Lennie the best of friends, who are there for eachother become affected with the new problems they will face. Lennie a big, strong bear like man, who has a mind of a child does not know his own strength,makes problems expand more and more because he does not mean to do the things he does. For example: “They’ll can me purty soon. Jus’ as soon as I can’t swamp out no bunkhouse they’ll put me on the country. Maybe if I give you gut’s my money, you’ll let me hoe in the garden even after I ain’t no good at it. An I’ll wash dishes an’ little chicken stuff like that. This is a good example of loneliness because telling by Candy’s voice that he is lonely, after they shoot his dog Candy does not have anyone besides himself so he was explaining that the would do all of his stuff for Lennie and George in the ranch.
