Through history, those who are in the high class position has more advantage of demanding things, while those who are in the lower class do not have as much power. Similarly to Catherine, who is the mother of the King and Abigail who is the niece of the minister in Salem, Reverend Parris. Both of them are in a high position. In society, people tend to believe in higher class people more because it is a common thought that high class people are more educated and knowledgeable, hence they were able to climb to the high class position of the social status. So when a powerful and high class person accuse another person, especially one of the lower class, it is immediately decided that the high class person is the right one.
