Lost in The Sun Lost in The Sun by Lisa Graff is a book about Trent Zimmerman, a kid who just started middle school and declares it will be better than the 5th grade. 5th grade was rough, he accidentally killed a kid. Jared Richards was born with a birth defect in his heart. The boys were playing hockey one day, and when the puck shot him in the heart, he died. Middle school was a “fresh start” for Trent. Trent’s parents also recently got divorced, which hit him hard. Middle school was going to be a time for Trent to make some new friends, or at least get his mind off of things. Fallon Little, a girl with an enormous scar on her face, was just what he needed. In the beginning, Trent didn't really have any good or close friends. It's when everything was great with him and Fallon. Trent was just hanging some decorations up around the shop with his mom, and Fallon came. She asked if she could “borrow” Trent for a while. They left to the park, where the lake was almost frozen over. They sat on a softly frosted bench. Fallon got really quiet and squeezed Trends gloved hand. “It was seven years ago. She said softly” She started to tell Trent her real story, about how she got her scar. This was a point in the friendship when it started to get serious. There was complete trust, ad Fallon was beginning to feel for Trent, and so was he.
Lost in The Sun was a book full of emotions and thoughts of Trent Zimmerman. Fallon Little turned out to be his best friend in the end, and everything was great for Trent. Middle School was hard for Trent, with his divorced parents, and a step-mom he absolutely hated. Overall, this book was full of great character development, which made the book an enjoyment to
