To start off with I was very concerned about what all I could talk about in my paper. I had some website with a lot of theories and information on the show but I was not sure what point I was going to make.
"The Island/Theories." Lostpedia. Wiki, n.d. Web. lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Island/Theories.
Lostpedia Island Theories is a website that contains numerous fan theories around the show
Lost. This page is where I will get theories surrounding the mysteries of the island. This site is a particularly good one because it has strict guidelines as to what can be posted. These guidelines are the following: "A theory is an attempt to explain a certain mystery using logic backed up with logically consistent observations and facts. Without supporting

Paleycenter. "Lost - J.J. Abrams On Purgatory Theory (Paley Center)." YouTube. YouTube, 22
Jan. 2009. Web. www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=44&v=-IIQpiInCIs. In this youtube interview with the creator, the main main topic of discussion is theories. J.J. Abrams talks about how much he respects and appreciates the fan theories. Although this video as a source is going to be used mainly as clear evidence against the purgatory theory, there is one VERY important thing J.J. says. That occurs at the 33 second mark where J.J. says,"Well you could say that being on the island is a metaphor and you know it is that in some way." This quote proves that there is some metaphor that can be discussed/ theorized about.
"The 7 Greatest Wrong Lost Theories Ever." Vulture. N.p., n.d. Web. www.vulture.com/2010/05/the_ten_greatest_debunked_lost/slideshow/4/. This article is biased because there are no "greatest" fan theories, it is opinion based. With that said it does discuss many popular theories, the likelihood of them being real as well as the original theories’ hypothesis of what the finale was going to be. The most interesting one here is that the island is
Atlantis. This theory is one I am considering writing about. Also it is worth mentioning that

2015. Web. www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/26/lost-writer-looks-back-on-shows-creation-responds-to-theories This website is really straight forward. It is an interview with the Lost writers about different fan theories and various other details about the show. It is also done by IGN which is a reliable source of news in the media. It will be helpful in showing the relevance of writing fan theories and help support or debunk theories.
After finding these four sources, I realized there was a vast amount of information the creators have discussed in interviews. The weight of writer's comments about fan theories was clear and I knew any interview with writers that help with the show were extremely useful towards my paper.
This was the point where I started mapping out the structure that my paper might have and I started taking into account what the creator of the show might have to say about the many fan theories on his work. The point at this stage still was not clear but I knew there was something here I could write about.
