Some people fight for honor, and some fight for revenge, or to avenge their friends or loved ones. Some fight with words and wisdom, while others choses to use physical force, even by taking the opponent’s life to fulfill their vengeance. One of the First lives lost in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, triggers the protagonists, Romeo, to avenge his friend, Mercutio. Romeo avenges his friend’s life, with the his own life and the trust from his wife, Juliet, at stake. When Romeo is mocked by the antagonist, Tybalt, a Capulet, Romeo decides to withdraw from the fight, then, his friend Mercutio decides to fight for him to protect his honor on Act three scene three.

Hate impacts society more than love because hate can affect people directly and indirectly. In Romeo and Juliet early on we learn that two families hate each other the Montagues and Capulets Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. Their families ancient grudge causes a downward spiral of death and sadness throughout the whole story and everybody is affected in a negative way because of the families grudge. In the story a young couple falls madly in love but their love is denied by multiple obstacles leading back to their families grudge. Romeo meets Juliet at a capulet party and they instantly fall in love not knowing each other is a part of their families rival.
“Hate Poem” by Julie Sheehan describes how she transformed hatred to love. By looking at her pattern of thinking, it involves her own experience in the daily life that result the conflicts between her loves and hates. This poem begins with “I hate you truly. Truly I do” (1). This opening did not match the idea of a poem about hate; instead it is a poem about love.

Irving explores the distinction between wanting to be loved and wanting to love another, which ultimately originates from the moment an individual is born.
In William Shakespeare’s he writes a play telling a dramatic event of two lovers ‘’Romeo and Juliet’’ that have to keep their love a secret because of their family hatred for each other that will lead to a tragic event that will cause the two lovers to die. In William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” hate is shown to be stronger than love because Romeo kills Tybalt, Juliet dad was going to throw her in the streets and let her starve, die of hunger if she didn't marry Paris, and Romeo and Juliet die because of hate. Atonement, by Ian McEwan, explores the theme of love through a variety of techniques such as symbolism, metaphors and repetition discuss the themes of newfound, unavailable and nurturing love. Uniquely, McEwan intertwines these techniques with foreshadowing and imagery to convey complex emotions guilt and jealousy. Additionally, repetition and characterisation develop Cecilia’s caring nature. McEwan’s use of symbolism develops strong themes of shattered and the unavailable love.

Through the symbolism of Uncle Clem’s vase, McEwan explores and foreshadows the outcomes of Cecilia and Robbie’s love. Robbie and Cecilia break the vase the day they discover their love for each other, signifying their love would not be forever. Moreover, it is later revealed that” She [Betty] said the pieces had simply come away in her hand, but that was hardly to be believed” (pg. 279).
Do we really love what we do? In the article “In the Name of Love,” Miya Tokumitsu covers the issue that doing what you love (DWYL) gives false hope to the working class. Tokumitsu reviews how those who are given jobs ultimately cannot truly love what they do because of the employers who make jobs possible. These same employers keep their employees overlooked.
According to Derek Landy, a famous irish author and screenwriter, “ Violence is never the answer, until it’s the only answer.” This message stays true in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In this dreamful play, there are two passionate lovers. On one hand there is Romeo, belonging to the Montague family, and on the other hand there is Juliet, belonging to the Capulet family. Unfortunately, for Romeo and Juliet, their families have been fighting in a never ending feud against each other.
In the play Romeo and Juliet hate is a major role in the story/play. The hate revolves around the hatred between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. Hatred is shown throughout Romeo and Juliet as shown by peoples’ acts of violence. The story does not reveal why the hatred began, only that it was an ongoing conflict between the two families.
Romeo’s heart drives him to make, at times, irrational decisions to be with his one true love.
For example, when Tybalt kills Mercutio Romeo is angry and kills Tybalt because he is filled with hatred. The reason that they even fight is because of a old dispute between the two families. This dispute is the cause of many fights between the two families. This long time dispute is caused by a mutual hate between the two families and is why hate is stronger than love in this story.
What is Love? If you were to search it up you get the vague definition which reads: an intense feeling of deep affection. But it’s so much more, it has so many different meanings to people. Even wrong meanings that people associate it with. Love comes in many different forms, such as: friendship, family, and partnership.
