Research shows that schools such as Fishers High School have high graduation rates due to its curriculum, opportunity and staff of highly regarded teachers, but there 's always a percentage of students getting left behind. It’s something uncontrollable as of now, but who is this group? People with lower social status and more of the minorities than the white majority.
Low income students and its correlates, such as lower education, poverty and poor health, ultimately affect our society as a whole. Inequities in wealth distribution, resource distribution and quality of life are increasing in the United States and globally. Society benefits from an increased focus on the foundations of socioeconomic inequities and efforts to reduce the deep gaps in socioeconomic status in the United States and abroad. Behavioral and other social science professionals possess the tools necessary to study and identify strategies that could alleviate these disparities at both individual and societal levels. …show more content…

Initial academic skills are tied back with the home environment, where low literacy environments and chronic stress negatively affect a student’s academic skills. The school systems in low socioeconomic communities are often under resourced, negatively affecting students’ academic progress inadequate education and increased dropout rates affect children’s academic achievement, disseminating the low socioeconomic status of the community.
