The only thing blocking this is a photo of three young women dressed up for a tea party. It is an ad for the Lamarca Prosecco, a brand that sells sparkling wine (Prosecco). Lamarca is a company that uses the need for affiliation and prominence to market their sparkling wine.
Saunders also conveys how business marketing tactics breed cruelty and vanity in society’s elites. The lack of ethics fuels a sense of superiority in product users through brutal subjugation of those who don’t use them. Lewis is trying to make the audience feel like they have a mission, one that will take them as a community to accomplish. Lewis purposely first leads them with sadness, telling the audience stories of friends and family who face the hardships of the government, but, starts telling them that they are not alone, telling them that they need to work, and finally, telling them that they will succeed. By doing this, he starts with the truth, but ends by motivating the audience of how it isn’t the end.

Companies label their audience and advertise to them accordingly. Using reliable sources such as Stanford Research Institute, companies are able to use the data to their advantage to help market their products to a specific demographic. Craig and Twitchell give examples of this ploy in action by revealing how companies use “positioning” to advertise the same product to two demographics to earn more profit. The autobiography, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, written in 1845 in Massachusetts, narrates the evils of slavery through the point of view of Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass is a slave who focuses his attention into escaping the horrors of slavery. He articulates his mournful story to anyone and everyone, in hopes of disclosing the crimes that come with slavery. In doing so, Douglass uses many rhetorical strategies to make effective arguments against slavery. Frederick Douglass makes a point to demonstrate the deterioration slavery yields from moral, benevolent people into ruthless, cold-hearted people.

I have chosen to create an online article about the issue of women in advertising for the “Health and Beauty” section of The Guardian. Having watched Jean Kilbourne’s documentary “Killing Us Softly 4,” I realized there is intense gender bias in our society, specifically discrimination towards women in the advertisements I would see throughout the day. Also, reading Joyce Carol Oate’s short sotry, “Where are you going, Where have you been?” helped me formulate a better understanding of how popular culture creates a singular identity. In my article, I tried to use all three of Aristotle’s rhetorical appeal techniques.
On April 4, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy gave his remarks on the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Robert’s goal was to inform people on Martin Luther King’s journey and to strengthen people’s attitudes on the whole situation. Martin Luther's theological approach resonated with me more so than that of John Calvin's theory. Luther's approach, with its strong belief in faith of God and righteousness of God seems for me to be a more realistic approach. As practiced, if one is righteous they will live by faith.
